Soome juhtkoerakasutaja Marianne Tenhami soovis oktoobrikuu alguses tulla koos oma ema ja juhtkoer Pekkoga Eestisse puhkama, kuid kuna Pirita Hotel soovis võtta juhtkoera eest lemmikloomatasu ja ei olnud kursis sellega, et EL riikides, nägemispuudega inimest saatva juhtkoera eest ei ole õigust lisatasu küsida, siis pöördus Marianne oma murega Eesti Juhtkoerte Kasutajate Ühingu poole.
Eesti Juhtkoerte Kasutajate Ühing kontakteerus koheselt Pirita Hoteliga ning selgitas kasutaja ja Teda saatva juhtkoera õigusi, mille tulemusel tühistati plaanitav lisatasu juhtkoera eest.
Marianne kirjutas ka tagasiside. kus kiitis Pirita Hoteli suurepärast teenindust ning Tema puhkus möödus imeliselt. Ta tänab Eesti Juhtkoerte Kasutajate Ühingut ning kõik sujus ka väljaspool hotelli hästi: kusagil ei küsitud juhtkoera eest lisatasu ning igale poole oli ligipääs olemas.
Ta juhtis siiski tähelepanu sellele, et mõned inimesed ei olnud teadlikud sellest, et töötava juhtkoera tähelepanu ei tohi endale tõmmata ega koera silitada.
EJKÜ-l on siiras rõõm, et saime Mariannet ja Pekkot nende mures aidata ning loodame, et tulevad teinegi kord Eestisse puhkama!

Our holiday in Pirita Hotel was excellent. I don’t know, what you have told them, but my guide dog Pekko and me were treated extremely well.
Pekko had access everywhere with me. I didn’t take him with me to swimming hall ,but everywhere else he came with me. There was no talk about extra charging either. Everybody were kind and nice. When I was paying my bubble herb bath in cash, the officer counted the notes in my hand one by one telling which note she gave to me. That’s only one example of very good treatment.
We walked from Pirita Hotel to the centre of Tallin and back and visited stores and Salon Madonna. In addition, we went to Selver, pet store and shoemaker near Pirita Hotel twice, and visited TV tower near Pirita Hotel. There were no access issues either in any place. People seem to know quite well about guide dog team’s rights in Estonia.
However, some people don’t know, that it’s not allowed to pay any attention to guide dog when he or she is working in harness. People very easily came to talk and pet Pekko.
